BLC PROJECT

BIOREGIONALISM BY DESIGN

A Schumacher College Short Course

‘Bioregionalism By Design: How To Generate Transformative Stories of Place’ took place at Schumacher College in South Devon in late April and early May 2016.

Initiated by Isabel, it brought together two of the long-term practitioners in the Regenesis Group Pamela Mang and Joel Glanzberg with leading sustainable design advocator John Thackara.

The exploration of the regenerative design approach, Story of Place, was combined with a number of visits into the bioregion and continues to inform our BLC work. Integral to the course, a day of design and problem-busting around local food systems brought local people into an exploration of bioregional working and food sheds.

NOTES

Water, food and energy meet our fundamental needs. How many of our basic needs can be met within our natural bioregion? Exploration and mapping of South Devon’s “sheds” is one way to find out.
